What is DTYIS challenge
DTIYS (Draw This In Your Style) challenges have become increasingly popular on social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. These challenges are a fun way for artists to showcase their skills, while also engaging with their followers and building a community of like-minded creators.
The concept of a DTIYS challenge is simple: an artist creates original artwork and invites others to recreate it in their own style. Participants can use any medium they choose and can interpret the original artwork in any way they like. Once they have completed their version of the artwork, they share it on social media using the hashtag #DTIYS and tagging the original artist. Sometimes there can be a deadline and rules or maybe not, it may vary according to the artist.
One of the reasons DTIYS challenges have become so popular is that they are incredibly accessible. Anyone can participate, regardless of their skill level or the resources they have available. They can be a great way for beginners to practice their skills, and for more experienced artists to experiment with new styles and techniques.

Another benefit of DTIYS challenges is that they can be a great way to build a community. Participants can see each other's work and leave comments, which can lead to new connections and collaborations. Additionally, artists who create original artwork can use the challenge as a way to gain exposure and connect with their audience.
Of course, like any social media challenge, there are some potential downsides to DTIYS challenges. One issue is that they can sometimes feel like a popularity contest, with artists competing to see who can create the most popular or impressive version of the artwork. This can lead to a sense of pressure and anxiety for some participants.
Another issue is that DTIYS challenges can sometimes be used as a way to exploit artists. Some original artists may use the challenge as a way to get free artwork from participants, without offering any compensation or credit in return. It's important for participants to be aware of these potential issues and to only participate in challenges that feel safe and respectful.
Despite these potential downsides, DTIYS challenges remain a fun and engaging way for artists to connect and showcase their skills. They can be a great way to experiment with new techniques, build a community, and gain exposure for your work. So if you're an artist looking for a new challenge, why not give DTIYS a try?
Cheers,
Chamila
